Week 2 Will focus on the 2 Lower Bandas. Banda is a term for the "body locks" in Hatha Yoga. We might understand them as locks or dams to the flow of energy in the body. Mula Bandha is comprised of the pelvic floor muscles or the perineum. Uddiyana Bandha are the abdominals up to the diaphragm. Jalandhara Bandha is at the throat. I think of the areas in the body where we have 'sphincters' to control the flow of fluids or matter or air.
Week 3 we will bring our attention to the Psoas Muscle--the important support muscles on each side of the spine that helps us pull up and maintain the upright position. We will explore how to keep the psoas muscle strong AND soft -- not tensed.
