How do we find Balance in our Minds and our Bodies during these challenging times? Practicing Mindfulness Meditation will help you be less reactive to the stress of the unknowns around you. Meditation helps you find greater equanimity. Ground, Relax, Exhale. Practicing yoga at home with me might help you practice the three constituents parts to finding better balance in your body.

When you need to go to sleep, or to tap into your bodies own ability to down regulate allowing your body to rest, digest and renew; try this Legs Up the Wall Sequence. You can play it twice if you want it to be longer or pause with each pose to lengthen the practice out. You could begin with Gekko Yoga Grounding Meditation 2020 https://youtu.be/Fi9cJAhxCHk . You can repeat it twice or you can go to Gekko Yoga Yoga Nidra after you practice Legs up the wall. BTW, the picture above me is the view from my childhood home at the top of the first range of the Himalayan Mountains in Mussoorie, India.
Here is the YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/FJiupv_832U You can follow with Yoga Nidra https://youtu.be/qygpSVq5_bI Today I am demonstrating another one of our class favorites for building our core strength. Udiyana Banda is that band of muscles between the pubic bone and the belly button. Developing a modicum of tone here helps with posture as well as low back pain. Then add on the Yoga Sit-Up and you are doing wonderful things for your core!
Good morning! While we are all practicing "Social Distancing" or as Pastor Bryon calls it "Spacious Solidarity", let's practice yoga with you at home and me on this short video. You can start with "Gekko Yoga Meditation 2020" then begin this video with your 'remote' close by so that you can pause the video to do the other side. I only demo one side of each sequence in the interest of time that YouTube allows. Be sure to give yourself time at the end to practice the most important pose of all, "Shavasannah". You can lie quietly allowing your mind and body to rest, digest, assimilate, integrate and accommodate your yoga practice. You could also listen to "Gekko Yoga Chakra Affirmations" during your Shavasannah. So sorry....no neck massage with China Gel! Enjoy! See you when our "Spacious Solidarity" can come together once again into Unified Solidarity. Namasthe and virtual hugs! Hello! While we are all practicing "Social distancing" you may not want to go out to your normal Yoga Class. Kris has asked me to do a short video for "Chair Sun Salutations". The other day her back was hurting her but she came to class anyway. After doing the Chair Sun Salutes, she found tremendous relief. Now she (and you) can practice Chair Sun Salutations at Home! It might be a better picture on YouTube: https://youtu.be/mvB9c3JNEB4 Beginning of Class Grounding Meditation
This is a typical "grounding meditation" that we practice at the beginning of every one of our Gekko Yoga Classes. You can listen to it before you start your home yoga practice or you can listen to it just as a short relaxation meditation. Ground, Relax, Exhale.... YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/Fi9cJAhxCHk This week March 16-20 Action & Resistance in Your Yoga Practice I demonstrate the concept of Action and Resistance in a YouTube Video or on my Gekko Yoga FaceBook page. My body uses the opposite muscles of the joint to provide resistance to the movement of the joint. Once again I notice that I am not always clear as "I talk through my nose" (say something that is in my mind and not what is actually happening). In Sumo, the joints are 90/90/90 in relationship to each other. They are 45 degrees in relationship to the horizon. :-) It's a quirk that makes me ME! :-). How does Action and Resistance relate to "Knit the Ribs"? Tell me what you think! 9:00 am Monday McFarland United Church of Christ 12:00 noon Monday Aptitude 1342 Mound Street Josh S. I read these Affirmations during my Chakra Workshop and many students have asked to have access to it. In this video I am reading the Affirmation next to my fireplace. You can try it as a 7 minute meditation or just listen to it at the end of your yoga practice during Shavasannah.
Here in the YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/ybqtfIGlnqI Now that you know how to "Knit your Ribs", you can begin practicing the Dead Bug Series to help strengthen your core, improve your brain "cross-over" functioning and match breath to movement. You can do this anytime--as a pre-Yoga exercise or just to strengthen your core.
