Knees: A frequent request by my students. Salient points: equal strength on all four sides of the knee strength (adductors, abductors, hamstrings and quads), track knee over center of foot, when holding a position stop where you have the most stability--usually with knee over the heel. Squats! Kick the Dirt! (hamstrings) and other fun stuff.
Balance! How do we find balance in our lives? And how do we maintain our balance physically as we age? I hear so many people coming to yoga to improve their balance and their flexibility. This week we will work on "balance". Shhh! I have a secret for you...every practice of yoga helps with your balance if you are changing your head position (vestibular stimulation), giving proprioception a chance to develop and decrease your dependence on your eyes. But we'll focus on balance anyway! My signature pose: Tree!
