This is the time of transitions as we transition from winter to spring, dark to light with the lengthening days. Our protective posture of hunched shoulders and tensed muscles served us during the icy winter and cold winds. Now, with the oncoming spring, we can broaden our collarbones, lift our head, and breathe in the warmed spring air. As we ground down into the warming earth, we can reach up tall with better posture. As we move through our yoga asanas (postures) we can use the concept of Action and Resistance by trying to bend while straightening or straightening while trying to bend. This invites the muscles on both sides of the joint to provide support to the joint and activates muscles that you might not have been aware were there. Action and Resistance also invites you to be more present as you breath in the moment, learning new movement and new muscles. Ground down as you stand tall. Be present as you move. Breathe with a full exhale. Action and Resistance. Come join me as we explore the powers of Action and Resistance.
