We've laid the ground work! We have worked on strengthening our core and then "Posture" concentrating on reversing "Head Forward Syndrome", and last week on our feet and ankles grounding into the earth; Now we can put that all together and work on "Balance". A strong core and awareness of our propensity to slouch forward will help us with our balance as we root ourselves into the earth and reach high to the sky with our spine (using our Psoas to be upright). Balance is made up of three skills all put together. Our eyes and seeing the 'horizon'; our ears helping us guage where head is; and our 'proprioception' where the muscles and nerves tell our spine and brain where our body is in space even when our eyes are closed. Of course, we practice balance ever week as we flow through sun salutations, do standing asanas (postures), and practice some poses which are particularly balance oriented. This week we will highlight all of this in our practice.
