You have a PSOAS (Ileopsoas on both side of your spine spanning from your inner thigh bone all the way up your backbone to where the ribs end and the diaphragm joins. The QL attaches to the top of the pelvic crest on each side and attaches on the spinal processes of the vertebrae all the way up to the lower ribs and the lower ribs itself on each side, They essentially snuggle up right beside your PSOAS and work in concert for your deep back core muscles alone with your MULTIFIDUS (see last week). If your psoas is tight and shorter on one side than the other (you might have scoliosis, or one hip higher than the other, or one leg shorter than the other) then you QL will probably also be tight and shortened. We will "Balance the Quadratus Lumborum" in our yoga practice this week.
