Time flies when you are having fun! Had a great 2 days hanging with Shalini. After the long touring day on Sunday seeing Noel and Linda Seefeldt in Poway, I really wanted to hang out with Shalini in Irvine and not be rushing off to do this and that. She had business to do and phone calls to make and I had a yoga class to record and emails to answer and a blog to write. :-) Late morning we went on a long walk on the hillside beside her neighborhood and the views of the surrounding town, hills and ocean were spectacular. Maddie loved it as did I. We returned in time to go to an Indian restaurant for dosa only the curry buffet looked and smelled so good we caved and had the buffet instead. Our "low key excursion" for the day was to go and walk around Bilboa island. The little village is very quaint and charming with tightly packed cottages each with their own individually decorated small front patios/porches with open air living, abundant plantings and flowers and charm--occasionally interspursed with large angular modern buildings which were totally out of place. We walked around the outskirts and then took the ferry over to the next island--Maddie called it a day by freaking out with the noise of the ferry and the very close trucks. We elected to make our way home via yet another special spot to watch the sunset. By the time we got there, it was windy and cold and a bank of clouds covered the sunset so we left and went home to Shalini's home made soup and sweet potato salad. Yummy! But I was still full from lunch. Tuesday was even more laid back, Shal and I did High Intensity workout--bless her for bravely doing it with me, showered, and I started preparing for the 2000 mile drive back to Madison--I went shopping for groceries, laundered, arranged, packed while Shal went to her book club. We went on a very nice long walk which offorded many beautify vistas. I just cannot get over how beautiful Irvine is! So much greenery! Tall pines giving shade, rolling hills, bright blue skies with sunshine and view after vista after yet another view and another vista! The traffic is fast, the boulevards are broad and there are no 2 straight roads anywhere. It is a very nice place to live and Shalini has a lovely home in a lovely town! Dinner was another Shalini Indian cooking feast. We walked her garden and packed up succulent cuttings for me to take home to try planting on my very hot patio. My daughter, Ali, gots some too! She collects them!
