The thoracic spine is the second segment of the vertebral column, located between the cervical (neck with 7 vertebrae) and lumbar (lower back with 5 vertebrae) vertebral segments. It consists of twelve vertebrae, which are separated by intervertebral discs. Along with the sternum and ribs, the thoracic spine forms part of the thoracic cage. After the cold of winter and hunching forward, our tendency is to round our back forward. We will explore opening our chests with "thoracic extension" and twists to find more spaciousness and freedom of movement.
