The Psoas muscle which runs from the inner upper thigh, over the pubic bon (on each side) and up the back abdominal wall all the way up the spine to the Diaphragm connects the leg to the spine and provides stabilization of the spine as well as flexion of the leg. A Psoas that is too tight may pull the spine forward and cause back pain. An imbalanced Psoas can cause dissymmetry of the pelvis and back and again you might experience pain. Stability and flexibility. We want a strong, stable psoas which is also supple--not a tight 'anxious' psoas that is contracted and stuck.
