After our morning walk and exercise we went to the most amazing Persian Market close to Shalini's home. Produce piled high with rich vibrant colors and veggies and fruits that we don't see in a normal midwestern grocery store. Ready made Indian parathas and curries, jicama! I will come back here to stock up for my drive home! We bought bags of produce--not sure when we will eat it as there are plans to eat out every day!
We had arranged to drive down to Poway--a suburb of San Diago--about a 90 minute drive--to visit classmate, Noel Seefeldt, and his wife, Linda. We had originally planned on meeting at an Indian restaurant until I remembered that Maddie is along with me and cannot go inside a restaurant and also she cannot be left in the car! Linda and Noel made a quick change of plans and provided us with a lovely lunch of curry and deli sides. We had a HUGE Persian flat bread which we had purchased earlier and sopped up the curry juices. They showed us their lovely home and updated us on their children and grandchildren. They have 2 boys each of whom had 2 children. 7 and 9 year old boys in one family and 9 and 11 year old girls in the other family. They are very busy involved with the grand childrens' school and after school activities. One daughter-in-law dropped by with some samosa and scones with her sons and we listened to the elder son's piano playing. He is very talented. they both really enjoyed playing with Maddie and Maddie is slowly coming out of her shell and being more confident and social!
They took a vacation from thei grandparent duties last year to go to Taiwan for a month and really enjoyed it! They plan on returning this next month for another 3 weeks.
